La mystique masquée de Kontravoid perdure depuis plus d’une décennie. Depuis la sortie de son album éponyme en 2012, Cameron Findlay, né au Canada et basé à Los Angeles, a perfectionné la pop sombre avec son œuvre qui oscille entre les genres EBM, électro et gothique. Ses productions, telles que « Too Deep » en 2019 et « Faceless » en 2021, plongent dans les coins les plus abandonnés des clubs brumeux et éclairés par des stroboscopes : il n’y a pas d’autre choix que de danser.
▰▰ BUZZ KULL
Buzz Kull is the creative project of Sydney-based musician Marc Dwyer. Since 2012, Buzz Kull has carved out a niche as one of the darker, more subversive acts undertowing the Australian electronic landscape.
Dwyer has released three albums under the Buzz Kull moniker, 2017’s Chroma and 2018’s New Kind of Cross, 2022’s Fascination. He has collaborated with the likes of Liars, Ellen Alien and Death Bells. Buzz Kull transcends the archetypal boundaries of Darkwave. A connexus linking pop sensibilities with spectral, foreboding emotional states that go beyond the circumstantial. A shadowplay of nauseating synth lines and downcast, pounding drum machines that conjure up a desolate void.
